Shanza Noorhasan Khan has a graduate degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, USA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Emory University, USA, and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Mount Marty College, USA. A Summa Cum Laude graduate from Emory University and a Dean’s Fellow at Harvard, she was inducted in the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economic Honor Society and the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society during her academic career. She has worked as a Poverty Research Associate at the Asian Development Bank, Islamabad, Pakistan and also served as a Junior Professional Associate at the World Bank, Washington, D.C. In addition, Ms. Khan has also had the opportunity to study US macro-economic issues closely by virtue of her stint at the Federal Reserve Bank, Atlanta. She has recently worked with the United States Agency for International Development, Department for International Development, British High Commission, Aga Khan Planning and Building Service, GTZ, and Royal Netherlands Embassy Development Cooperation. Ms. Khan focuses on both poverty and macro-economic analysis. Her previous research within the macro-economic realm has focused on trends and levels of public expenditures, key gaps in public goods, public sector enterprises, Pakistan’s fiscal performance across sectors and other regions, and Punjab’s investment climate. Relevant to her poverty and development interests, her recent work has focused on Pakistan’s poverty measurement and assessment of poverty lines, social protection, public-private partnerships, assessing validity, credibility, and legitimacy of data. She has also looked at the broader issues of social exclusion in her research, including concerns relating to school improvement, citizen empowerment, and habitat risk management.
